Manchester University, in North Manchester, IN, USA

At Midwest Banjo Camp (MBC), you can study old-time or bluegrass banjo with some of today's best players and teachers in both styles. Our program features hands-on classes, demonstrations, two faculty concerts, and still leaves lots of time for jamming with your fellow banjo enthusiasts.

MBC offers nine sessions of classes throughout the 4-day weekend, with up to 19 classes per session. Campers are also invited to enjoy the Faculty Concerts on both Friday and Saturday nights.

Registration and Tuition Information

Full Camp - The full camp runs from Thursday mid-afternoon through lunchtime Sunday. Included in the full-camp tuition package are all nine hands-on class-sessions offered, all meals  (Thursday dinner through Sunday lunch), two faculty concerts, staff-led jams on Thursday evening, Friday evening, and Saturday afternoon; and staff-led demonstrations on Thursday evening 

Weekend-Only -  The weekend-only option runs from the first class/session offering on Friday afternoon, as well as lunch immediately preceding. Included are seven hands-on class-sessions offered, meals from lunch Friday to lunch on Sunday, two faculty concerts, and staff-led jams on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon.

Commuters - Those who commute may choose between Full or Weekend-Only  Camp and will have the option of choosing a meal plan at Registration.


SPECIAL REGISTRATION TYPES 

-- Below are special registration types available to those who qualify that offer 50% off of the regular registration price -- 

Students Under 25 Years of Age or Under - This registration type will receive 50% off the regular registration price and includes full access to classes, meals, concerts, etc.  (Coupon Code: 25&Under)

Non-Playing Camp Participant (Chaperone, Companion, Spouse, etc.) - This registration type will receive 50% off the regular registration and includes meals and demos/concerts; May not attend classes and must complete a separate registration.  (Coupon Code:  NOPLAYCHAPCOMP2025 )


DEPOSITS

All registrants have the option to place a $100 deposit which will reserve your spot at camp. Certain "extra" charges are paid in full when the $100 deposit is paid to reserve your space as a student, This includes payments for Linens, Additional Night Stays, and  Airport Shuttles. 

The full balance is due on April 1, 2025 and will be automatically charged on the same card as the deposit.  A reminder will be sent in advance.  If your charge card information changes before April 1, 2025, contact us at [email protected] for further instructions so we will have correct information to charge the balance.

Type of Registration

  • 3-5 minute walk to classes, meals & concert hall; no elevator in dorm; male and female shared bathrooms on each floor.

  • 3-5 minute walk to classes, meals & concert hall; elevator in dorm; bathroom shared by 2 rooms

  • 5-10 minute walk to classes, meals & concert hall; elevator in dorm; bathroom shared by 2 rooms

  • I will be commuting from off-campus housing. BE SURE TO SELECT A COMMUTER REGISTRATION OPTION BELOW.

  • Dorm residents are encouraged to bring their own linens and pillows if possible. If this is inconvenient, linen sets may be rented from Manchester U. for a fee of $22 (payable through our registration form). The actual content of the linens package is as follows. Note that you must bring your own shampoo, shower gel, soap and other personal items; blankets are provided whether or not you rent a linens set.

    Note to returning students: Unlike our previous venues MU does NOT provide a pillow unless you rent a linens set.

  • If you bring your own linens, note that a pillow is not provided anyway (as was the case in previous camp locations).

Covid Protocol

  • MBC strongly recommends that all participants get vaccinated against Covid-19, including with the most recent booster. MBC 2025 will follow any CDC guidelines that are present at the time of camp.
  • Midwest Banjo Camp will adhere to all protocols regarding masking laid out by Manchester University and the State of Indiana. At this time there are no masking requirements.

AIRPORT SHUTTLE

We will have several shuttle times from FWA to Manchester U on Thursday afternoon 6/5/25 and possibly on Friday afternoon 6/6/25. We will also have shuttles back to FWA on Sunday afternoon 6/8/25. 

Exact times will be determined based on arrival and departure times provided by students. If you provide times, we will contact you with details in advance of the camp. We expect to be able to accommodate most of your shuttle needs, but if we cannot, then we will notify you in advance and refund the amount paid.
